Bowlers continue to represent the Territory in fine style
On 6th June 2019, twenty of the Territory’s top tenpin bowlers with a disability headed to Canberra to compete at the 31st National Tenpin Bowling Championships for People with a Disability. Over 300 bowlers from all around Australia traveled to the Nation’s capital for the 10 day event.
The Northern Territory has claimed the Cole Cup State Challenge eight times in the past 12 years and in a first, some bowlers competed in the Open State Challenge Cup.
The Cole Cup was again a closely contested challenge with only 8 points separating the field. NT came in 7th place. The Open Cup team bowled extremely well coming in at 6th.
The Territory was acknowledged for its exceptional sportsmanship with Josh Kelly and Jyrah Sammut being presented with the Challenge Sportsperson Awards for the Cole Challenge and Open Challenge respectively. Scott Stevenson, in his first year representing the Territory in the Cole Cup was awarded the Men’s Highest Game with Handicap.
