Lord Taverners NT took on the NT Cricket Patrons XI

The mighty Lord Taverners NT took on the NT Cricket Patrons XI on 19th August at Darwin’s premier oval, Marrara Cricket Ground #1. Joel Morrison’s Patrons XI batted first and made a respectable score. It would have been a lot higher if it’s wasn’t for the spectacular fielding display lead by Mr Wayne Akers. He was a Jonty Rhodes in the field, diving at every opportunity (please note he was only in shorts too!) and taking a marvelous one-handed catch. The Lord Taverners XI looked very comfortable with the willow chasing. Star recruit Clinton Hoffman began with a first ball duck (!!) before making up for it with some fine stroke play. The game was played in good spirits, as always. The Taverners won the game comfortably and finished off the 2018 season unbeaten with two wins.
